New Zealand's leading commentators shared their valuable insights.

Over the last four decades, living standards in New Zealand have fallen far behind those in Australia. The gap is large. Measured in terms of real Gross Domestic Product (GDP), average Australian incomes are around 35 percent higher than those in New Zealand. For a family of four, that gap is worth around $64,000 a year. The gap matters and the Prime Minister has articulated his vision of closing the gap with Australia by 2025.
Our annual Great Economic Debate was held on Monday 5 July, and as promised, it was a lively evening of debate. |

Some of the best commentators in the business, including Fran O'Sullivan, Jenni McManus, Ganesh Nana, Sue Bradford and John Walley thrashed out the issue "Is the current Government on the right track to close the gap between New Zealand and Australia?"
The 2025 Taskforce has been established to help answer New Zealand’s $64,000 question, read the Summary or Full Report here.
Below are some pictures from the night.
