Roading

The city’s infrastructure is funded by Manukau City Council which is committed to providing roading infrastructure that allows the city to develop.  An example of this focus is Te Irirangi Drive, which opened in April 2000 and provided access to the East Tamaki area for commercial and residential development.

Current Projects

A new link from the Waiouru Peninsula to the Southern Motorway will soon be completed which will facilitate business development in the Highbrook and East Tamaki areas.

Another roading development, for which funding has been approved, is a link joining State Highway 20 to the Southern Motorway, which will reduce traffic congestion within Manukau. Included in general upgrading will be a new connection between Liverpool Ave and Nesdale Ave which will effectively extend Te Irirangi Drive and Cavendish Drive and eliminate the current Puhinui Road and Bridge Road dogleg.
